I Don't Count The Days: The Final Set

"Good Times Don't Have a Happy Ending."
Here we are again, stuck at square one. For ETC, this meant no time for rehearsals, recording, or even blogging the process, frustrations and so on.
Contrary to my own beliefs, this project became extremely overwhelming and literally too much to take on. Even though one's sophomore year is considerably lighter than any other year in high school, personal issues and legal obligations stood in the way of successfully creating an album. Each member of ETC had their prior commitments that stood in the way of ever having consistent rehearsal time or a real meeting. Missed communication and lack of transportation also played a role, yet we were able to completely write maybe three or four songs. Maybe if we had the push we needed from the right person, maybe it wouldn't have turned out this way. We had so many great ideas that seemed perfect, but we didn't have the resources needed.
I don't know what happened to us. Maybe we didn't have enough fans? Maybe it just wasn't meant to be? Maybe we didn't have the right start? Who knows.
Maybe in the near future, if you guys are still interested in hearing our music, it'll be a possibility.
But until we get our lives together, Its an indefinite hiatus for ETC.
Until then, My Friends, This is goodbye.

Day 35 : A Tear in the Time-Space Continuum

As the weeks roll by and the progress is slowly been made, I have been deemed somewhat irresponsible for not keeping up with this blog as I should have. Therefore, I will be writing a blog post on our progress.  -Camielle
Recently, I've realized that we haven’t been working as hard as we need to be. Even though we have several songs and a survey in place, we still haven’t made it to the place where we would like to be within this project. I myself have not made any personal progress, but that’s going to change very soon. Now that we have more instruments to work with and material to tweak, things are slowly getting back on track. I think the reason why we were suddenly at a standstill is because of how offbeat the schedule is for rehearsals. Even though we've only rehearsed once, it isn’t clear when we will rehearse again. Also, there is a personal conflict within me on whether or not I should be taking this project to the next level with effort or not.
Personal conflicts and issues seem to toy with me pretty often, causing me to not be able to work efficiently.
Hopefully the next few weeks will go better, more so for the group than for me.

Happy Friday the 13th!

Day 21: Creative Pizza Party

Tania recaps today's rehearsal. Woohoo!

Today was an exciting day, as ETC had their FIRST REHEARSAL EVER!! It was amazing because we actually got stuff done AND we had fun.

We began by listening to Camielle's sick guitar riffs, and from there, it was all magic. We wrote bass parts, vocal harmonies, and it was super cool. We also made the decision that you guys should be the ones to choose what songs we should cover. Each of us will be covering a song on the album by ourselves.

Stay street!

Day 16 : Going Through Withdrawal

Camielle is back on her laptop and is ready to discuss this week's progress and problems! Woohoo!

After getting Emma back from the hands of the chorus teacher and their trip to Disney World, we were finally able to discuss a few things about the project, like where we should practice, how many days we should practice and so on. I was content with how things were going, until our teacher announced that she would not be at school on Friday. I assumed that this would leave us at a standstill because Friday was the day that we usually have the chance to work on our project during school hours. Leaving us to blog on our own time was pretty irritating, but it had to be done.

Speaking of doing things outside of school, I've been going through a pretty depressing withdrawal within the past twenty-four hours. My acoustic guitar, Dale, was in need of some cleaning and his strings were in need of replacing. So I gave him to a friend to be fixed. Ever since, I haven't been able to listen to any songs with guitar sounds, or else i will pout and say to myself, "I wish I didn't give him to someone else for the weekend". I have an electric guitar named Jinley that could serve as an alternative, but I've been really close to Dale for a while. So for Dale to be away for this long is what worries me.

Aside from Dale being miles away from his mother, I've made some progress with Jinley and have completed some melodies for two songs. The titles will be released towards the end of February along with the rest of the track list. Not only have I been working on music, but I've also been working on album art, taking pictures from nearly three years ago and using them for an even bigger project. Let me know what you guys think!

Day 7: Pacing Around My Right Brain's Foyer

Hello, big world! It's Camielle, the last initial of the group ETC.
Since I have no idea how to start this blog entry, I'll just explain what we have done so far and my own struggles within the project.

The songwriting process isn't all that its cracked up to be. There are some artists out there that have a natural talent for it, and they can write a Top 40 hit in two hours tops. But me? I just stare at the lined paper in front of me, wondering if my pencil has any ideas that I could steal from it. Just because you're considered a poetic genius doesn't mean that the knowledge and ideas that you have can be channeled that easily. Not only does something like this require practice, but it also takes patience. And from past experiences, I know that I am not a very patient person. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if this EP gained any real publicity. Would it get to our heads? Is the fame really worth it? The world is a big ocean with a boat load of people to receive judgement from, but that shouldn't stop us from reaching our goals.

Even though this is only the beginning of something great, there is already more than enough to worry about. Its either I'm worried that I'll stay in the ideas phase, or I'm already thinking too far ahead.

So far, we already have three originals (written by yours truly) on the table and we are still deciding which songs to cover. Personally, I believe that we as a group are capable of producing ten songs at the most, but four originals feel just right since this is the first time that we have decided to record any music and sell it online. Even though the cover for the EP is already completed (image below), I'm debating on whether or not to just trash the image and start all over again. Leave your comments about the image below if you guys have any ideas!

This is Camielle, signing off! See you tomorrow maybe...?
